Richard Bauckham to Lecture at Southern Seminary

Richard Bauckham is one of the world’s premier New Testament scholars, and he’ll be lecturing Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.  Thanks to the good people at the seminary, these lectures will be made available to the public via live stream that can be accessed here:  If you can make it to hear the lectures in person, and are one of the first 150 people through the door, you’ll receive a free copy of his excellent book Jesus and the Eyewitnesses.  Here’s what the school’s website has to say about the event:

Professor Richard Bauckham will deliver the Spring 2011 Julius Brown Gay Lectures in Heritage Hall on February 15-16. Professor Bauckham is Professor Emeritus at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and is a renowned New Testament scholar. The first 150 students to arrive for his 1:00 pm lecture on February 15 will receive a complimentary copy of his book Jesus and the Eyewitnesses: The Gospels as Eyewitness Testimony. The J. B. Gay Lectureship schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, February 15
1:00 p.m., Lecture 1: “The Gospels as Historical Biography”
2:30 p.m., Lecture 2: “The Gospels as History “From Below” (part 1)”
4:00 p.m., Book signing (outside Heritage Hall)

Wednesday, February 16
10:00 a.m., Lecture 3: “The Gospels as History “From Below” (part 2)”
1:00 p.m., Lecture 4: “The Gospels as Micro-History and Perspectival History”
